It has been extremely exciting to experience, once again, the response of the blockchain 4 Impact movement to our Blockchain for Humanity awards. These days have been inspiring for the b4H team after reading all the applications received. It justifies our continuous search for concepts and models that serve a greater purpose.
All applicants deserve our most sincere appreciation and recognition for the work they are, either starting to do and continue doing by leveraging Blockchain for Humanity. While we would have liked to present all the projects to the our Judges, we had the tough task to shortlist and provide the Judges a pre-qualified list of applicants. It was not easy, we had to make tough decisions to select the nominees amongst 40+ projects, (yes, 40+) projects that applied for this year’s awards.
Now Judges can use their altruistic wisdom and experience to assess and evaluate the nominees without having to impact their time to attend the LabitConf.
Meet this year’s b4H nominees (#2018b4hAwards) for the ‘Dreamers’ and ‘Shapers’ awards:
- Blockchain Tierras (Land Registry Colombia) — Addresses the security challenges and the reliability in the adjudication resolutions for the rural land ownership by the state governing body, the Agencia Nacional de Tierra (ANT)
- The Sun Protocol — The goal of this project is to build a community driven solar powered Blockchain, that can be connected with other communities when and if the communities want. https://youtu.be/N0HVUFrVGwA
- Proyecto Comedor (community dining room) — The project that certifies, via blockchain, a human effort of group of 15 women who are making food for the people in needs in Argentinian Slams. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1wr9befYTPr6cHrZlOSt1rp6ClLE7AVEl?usp=sharing
- Crypto Development Fund (CDF) — The CDF creates an investment platform through which international investors can invest in promising, high-impact startups from developing countries. https://youtu.be/ycCV54teXd8
- Bonfire — Community model in which self-governing community members get together in a physical location and contribute to the growth of that location based on a set of DAO-like rules. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1YzVAhJnCoOHBGR1a2cXX_sfNN_nlv1rN?usp=sharing
- DIDI — Financial inclusion and blockchain ecosystem developing in Argentinian slums. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/10H5DYyQuldBrksVNB9S_To9Dpx8Ss6HD?usp=sharing
Now the judges, that we have the honour of assessing the nominees to select the Awards in 2 categories:
Dreamers
Those initiatives that meet the qualifications of high potential, impactful projects with a strong use case of the blockchain technology for positive impact.
The ‘Dreamers’ would be considered the projects that will initiate the b4H Accelerator Program for 2019. This program will use the Giveth dapp platform to manage funds distribution in accordance to milestones achieved.
This means that projects that qualify under the ‘Dreamers’ award will be further supported by b4H donations and the network of partners that add value to this b4H initiative.
Shapers (Social Hackers)
Initiatives that have already demonstrated a strong use case or product that falls under the social/environmental impact to make the world a better place. These projects are generally more advanced in their concept and can serve as models for the ‘dreamers’.
This category is viewed as beyond accelerator’s goals and could benefit from the brand awareness, media coverage, use case promotion and invitation to Labitconf to present their results.
We will select, 3 Shapers and 3 Dreamers to be awardees and this incredible jury will asses them by studying the info requested during the application process. We can´t be more grateful to them.
The Judges will be assessing level of social impact, blockchain use case, team experience, problem the project is addressing and its potential for scaling.
Good Luck to every nominee!!!
